These projects all sound interesting but especially the first one. I hope you get back to them later, when it feels right. As for screenwriting, that used to interest me as well....until I actually started writing one. 🤭 In fairness, it was attempting to create one off my book (which could be more difficult) and I quickly saw why books turned into movies sometimes come out vastly different. It wouldn't be impossible but I kind of loathed the process.
Thanks Michelle! I was surprised by my feelings of resistance when it came to adapting my own books. It felt very "been there, done that." After spending a year with these characters/that plot, I wasn't exactly dying to return to that space again. I've found a lot more energy with original stories!
Yes, that does make sense. It's a very different process from writing a book. Good luck with everything. Take care and thanks for taking the time to reply. ☺️
I really love this and the idea that it means your standards are rising. I truly believe this to be true (whilst also wanting to read all of the above!). Can't wait for everything to come! x
I love this! Well not the fact that you've had to give up on all these ideas, but reading your process and how your mind works! And it makes me feel better about the idea(s) I've been battling with most of the year, without success.
Thanks, Anso. Loosening my grip on any particular idea has been freeing and even confidence-boosting in some ways. Something about having enough faith that more will come, and they (God willing) won't feel like a slog.
Yes, so much of this is having confidence that you *will* write another great book because you've done it before! But for me at least it's hard to figure out if the idea isn't working or if it's just that it's less shiny and new.

Thanks, my friend. Not me trying to turn the sourest lemons into lemonade!

Great post!
Thank you!
