On January 3, 2023, I sent my agent and editors a new book idea about a peculiar Hitchcock fanatic named Alfred Smettle. Alfred had long dreamt of opening a themed hotel in the White Mountains, and after decades of hard work, he finally made it happen. On the hotel's first anniversary, he invites his former best friends from his college film club for a reunion. They haven't seen one another in sixteen years, not after what happened. They all check in without issue. Checking out? That's another story.
The working title was THE HITCHCOCK HOTEL.
Within twenty-four hours of me sharing the pitch, my US and UK publishers gave me the greenlight to move forward. The novel was finished ten months later, which is the fastest I've ever written a book. And now, 21 months after I dreamt up the initial idea, the big day is finally here. My new psychological thriller/whodunit, The Hitchcock Hotel, launches in the US and Canada today!

This novel deviates from my first two. Darling Rose Gold and This Might Hurt were psychological deep dives, examinations of the motivating behaviors behind some of society’s outliers, namely Munchausen by proxy syndrome and cults. The Hitchcock Hotel is much more plot-oriented, more of a puzzle, and has an ensemble cast with seven points of view. It’s my first attempt at a whodunit.
Hitchcock often said that while other directors’ films were slices of life, his were a slice of cake. He wanted his movies to be entertaining, frothy, a diversion. I channeled that energy while writing this novel. I think it’s the most fun of my three books.
It takes a truly enormous village to launch a book into the world. I want to thank you all again for being part of mine. Some days I still cannot believe I'm a published author. Three books in five years?! No one wake me up. I hope you love this book. I hope I get to keep creating stories for you for the rest of my life.
Tearily,
Congrats!!! I can’t wait read it!!
Congratulations on your pub day! I love everything about Hitchcock!!
