an update on book 2
Hi friends—
[Slips into your inbox, hoping you won't notice how delayed this month's newsletter is.]
Will you forgive my belatedness if I tell you it's because I was finishing the next draft of my second book? I sent her off to my editors last week! I'm not allowed to share the new title just yet, but in the humble opinion of the person who came up with it, it's a good one. 😉
As I said on Instagram, this book is made of Saturdays and Sundays and sleepless nights and panic and joy and doubt, my god, buckets and buckets of doubt. I've heard other writers say you never stop thinking about a book while you're writing it, and that certainly rings true for me. This one has followed me absolutely everywhere, and I'm glad to pass it along to someone else for a while. The time away from the work is almost as important as coming back to it. Next time I read it I'll have a more distanced perspective—makes editing a lot easier!
I can't wait to finish this manuscript and share it with all of you. In the meantime, here's a little teaser for what you can expect:
Next up we have a bit of Rose Gold news. Check out the latest foreign edition covers from France, Hungary, and Poland! France's title is a direct translation of The Recovery of Rose Gold, Hungary's translates to Forgive Me, Rose Gold!, and Poland's is Caring. I'm still endlessly fascinated by the different titles and visual interpretations of this book from country to country.

Amazon included DRG as one of their best mystery/crime books of 2020!
A few months ago I did a 30-minute interview with the lovely Karah Preiss of Belletrist, which was a more in-depth discussion of some of the book's themes than I can ordinarily cover in shorter interviews.
Rose Gold was included in this thoughtful CrimeReads piece: "How Women Writers Are Transforming Hardboiled Noir."

Finally, here's what I'm looking forward to or have already enjoyed reading, watching, and listening to these past couple months. Hope you find something of interest!
